Creating a professional financial planning strategy
We make sure we take the time to understand your needs, goals and preferences before we make any recommendations – this is the process we follow.
1. Exploratory meeting
We contact you to arrange a convenient time and place to meet.
The initial meeting is at our expense. We will use the time to get to know you, both personally and financially. We will explain how we work to see if we are the right adviser for you. Whether you require advice on a particular area or a full review, we can help. We will discuss the costs of our services at the end of this meeting. To help us do this we'll need to see documents, including life assurance, mortgage, pension, savings and investments. This is also an opportunity for you to outline the issues that you'd like to discuss.
2. Setting Goals
We assess your current financial position and help identify your goals.
An important part of our process is to fully understand your current position. This involves a full appraisal of your assets and liabilities, any insurances you have in place, and just as importantly, your views on investment risk. We will make sure that we understand your personal and financial goals and agree a time frame for presenting our recommendations.
Using the information we obtain from you, we develop a detailed financial plan.
We will then create your strategic plan having assessed your current situation and determined what you must do to meet your goals. We will look at a number of "what if" scenarios to help bring your plan to life. Where required we will undertake a comprehensive and fair analysis of the market before making any recommendations.
We take you through our recommendations in detail.
We will meet to present you with your proposed plan. This will include an outline of what we consider to be the most suitable short, medium and long term solutions for your circumstances. We will ensure that you understand the proposed plan so that you can make informed decisions.
All the necessary product paperwork is completed and processed.
Once we have agreed your plan of action, we will begin the implementation of our recommendations. Dealing with any documentation, liaising with any financial institutions involved and ensuring that whatever has to be done is completed in a timely fashion. We will also liaise with your accountant or solicitor if appropriate.
At this point, you'll agree how often you want to review your plans.
Once your plan has been put in place, it's important to make sure that it stays on track. We will agree who is in charge of the monitoring of the plan, depending upon the ongoing service level we have agreed with you. We will meet with you periodically to review how things are progressing. This process has to be underpinned by a joint commitment from both FP Consulting and our clients in order to ensure the successful completion of their financial goals.
