Chartered Financial Planner
Along with his wife Joanne, Steve is the co-owner and Managing Director of FP Consulting Limited. As well as his role in running the business Steve is a Chartered Financial Planner having been awarded his title in the first graduation ceremony in March 2006.
Although broadly experienced Steve specialises in Estate Planning and Pensions. Steve is extremely enthusiastic about the pension changes announced during 2014 whilst at the same time being worried about the extra risks this exposes clients to.
Outside work Steve is a fan of all sports but in particular cricket and rugby. However, these days the closest he gets to exercise himself is skiing!!!
Although now retired from the day to day activities of the business, Steve continues to provide valuable insight and assistance when required due to his experience and in his role as examiner of the Institute of Financial Planning.
Steve has taken his own advice in retiring early to pursue his love of narrow boats and skiing.
Doug completed a business studies course in Glasgow what seems a very long time ago now. He has nearly 40 years in the financial services industry working for a friendly society , insurance and investment companies before becoming an independent financial adviser over 20 years ago.
Doug's clients, both corporate and personal, come through recommendation and he enjoys building long term relationships with them and helping them meet their goals ranging from protecting their families or business as a result of death or critical illness to wealth creation and efficient tax planning.
On a personal note Doug has teenage children and sympathises with anyone else who does. In his spare time Doug enjoys golf, cycling, tennis and skiing.
Craig began his career in financial services as a trainee financial adviser with Hambro Guardian in June 1991.
He has been specialising in corporate and workplace financial advice for over 12 years and has worked with numerous clients ranging from SME's to large national organisations. Prior to that he had gained 11 years' experience working as an IFA and company representative giving financial advice to high net worth individuals.
In recent years he has undertaken projects for two of our larger corporate clients, to streamline their pension provision and consolidate their various pension schemes into one uniform offering, whilst at the same time implementing cost savings and also introducing Salary Exchange as a method for employees to make contributions. This achieved cost savings for the businesses and improved pension contributions for employees.
During 2014 Craig assisted three large employers through Auto Enrolment and has experience of putting in place Salary Exchange schemes of varying complexity. Liaison between HR, Finance and communication to employees is crucial to implementing such major changes smoothly.
Independent Financial Adviser
Katrina began her career initially in Re-Insurance, dealing with large UK and European Companies, placing the Insurance in the London Lloyds market. She fell into financial services over 20 years ago by providing administrative and compliance support to the direct sales force of Financial Advisers for Prudential.
She then moved to the Independent world in 2000 as compliance support for an Independent Financial Adviser and became a fully qualified Financial Adviser herself in 2004. Katrina joined FP Consulting in December 2013 and has built some long term relationships with many of her clients.
In her spare time Katrina enjoys skiing, walking the dog, travelling and cooking.
Jason has been a Financial Adviser for the past 24 years. He started his career with Refuge Assurance back in the day when insurance premiums were collected at the door.
Prior to joining FP Consulting in 2014 Jason was working for a large Bank in their Wealth Management operation where he was providing advice to the Bank’s wealthiest clients so he has a good understanding of providing advice in complex areas such as Inheritance Tax Planning, Trustee Investments and personal tax planning strategies. Jason also has had a lot of experience of working the medical profession with Doctors, Dentists and GPs so has a good knowledge of the NHS Pension scheme.
Peter Gibbins BSc Hons, Dip PFS
Peter graduated from Loughborough University in 1984 with a degree in Banking & Finance. He spent the first 15 years of his financial services career working in the City as a fixed interest securities trader.
He has been an independent financial adviser since 2000, and specialises in pension and investment advice, with associated tax planning, to both corporate and private clients.
Joanne's aim is to bring the high class, professional financial advice services offered by F.P. Consulting to the people of her local community, as well as the people in the surrounding communities.
Residing in Cannock, Staffordshire, Joanne started out in financial services in 1986, working as a cashier at TSB in Walsall, and worked her way up the ladder to Financial Adviser at Lloyds TSB. She left in 2012 to pursue a career as an Independent Financial Adviser.
Joanne prides herself in building lasting relationships as well as providing high quality advice and ongoing service and is delighted to be an Associate at FP Consulting.
Alan Danks Dip PFS IFA
Alan joined FP Consulting in February 2016 as a regulated adviser as part of the merger with the Salmon Financial Partnership.
He joined the industry in 1985 as a trainee adviser with a National company becoming Branch Manager.
Since then to date Alan has had a variety of roles as Senior Manager, Area Director and Divisional Director of National financial advice companies until 2008 when he returned to being a full time client adviser.
Alan is passionate about the work we do and the clients we serve and hopes to continue to do so for some years to come.
Sylvia Al Saad (trading as Chilworth Financial Management)
Sylvia has over 30 years experience in sales, working in the corporate arena for major UK and American Institutions, such as Gestetners Duplicators, Combined International, Mars UK and Dun & Bradstreet.
Sylvia specialises in holistic financial planning for High Net Worth and Corporate clients, relying on the wealth of experience and knowledge accumulated over the years. She genuinely wants to help clients achieve their financial dreams and objectives for themselves, families and their businesses.
Richard has almost 20 years experience in the financial services industry. Having started his career at a stockbroker, he has worked for some of the biggest names in the life assurance and investment industry. Richard has extensive experience in investment and tax and estate planning for high net worth clients having worked with financial planners at several major UK private banks.
Richard aims to build long lasting relationships with his clients and to help them achieve their long term lifestyle goals and objectives through the creation and implementation of a detailed financial plan.
Away from work, Richard is married with two young children who keep him busy! When he does have some free time, Richard’s major passions are football and golf and he is still playing football for Sutton Coldfield Town over 35’s.
A career Banker by profession having been chartered at 21 spending 25 years with Midland Bank then HSBC. Robin left the banking industry to work first as a Financial Director then a National Sales Manager before returning to Financial Services firstly with Wesleyan leaving in 1999 as their principal corporate client adviser to establish himself as an Independent Financial Adviser. In 2006 Robin launched The Salmon Financial Partnership Ltd and has recently sold that business to FP Consulting Ltd, where Robin now works as an adviser.
Robin has two children who are successfully making their own way and is now very proud to have two gorgeous grandsons. Robin played Rugby for almost 44 years before retiring at age 54 but is still involved as Hon Secretary to Bromsgrove RFC. Classic cars are now a significant part of his leisure time when he is not babysitting!
Joanne is co-owner and Operations Director at FPC. Having worked in Financial Services since leaving school, she has amassed over 20 years of experience in a variety of different roles.
Joanne’s primary role is to oversee the smooth running of the busy Bromsgrove office and ensure that clients are looked after.
Outside of the office, most spare time is taken up with her two children, James and Lauren. Joanne is well known for her love of St Ives in Cornwall which is where she would ultimately like to live!
Mandy has worked in financial services since 1998, starting as a PA then moving onto Admin, Sales Support and finally Paraplanning, joining FP Consulting in November 2015.
Mandy holds FPC1 & 2 and has her hands full as Stephen Baker’s PA.
In her spare time Mandy enjoys time with her horses as well as walking.
Jo trained and qualified as a chef after leaving school, but decided it was the wrong career path. She then spent 15 years in commercial vehicle rental before taking her first steps into Financial Services in 2011. She studied and passed CF1 in 2012, with further exams in the pipeline.
In her spare time, Jo likes to keep fit in spin, step and yoga classes, and also rides a mountain bike in the summer. She is a keen knitter and considers socks her speciality!
Without wishing to give away his age, Martyn's career in insurance began back in 1974 as a trainee Life & Pensions Consultant with a company called National Provident, where he remained until 1987, before leaving to set up an Independent Advice arm of a well established Black Country insurance brokers. There he progressed to the role of Managing Director, building a strong business relationship with a growing client bank, built on the main principles of trust and integrity.
Martyn left that firm in 2014, and was extremely pleased to join FPC as their Compliance Manager, with a remit to ensure that their business continued to grow in size with strong foundations in terms of compliance within the regulatory rules. His wealth of experience and knowledge in the industry is a valuable commodity to the firm.
Outside work, Martyn and his wife enjoy short breaks in their touring caravan, DIY and photography.
Dan studied engineering at college while working a variety of part time and seasonal jobs after leaving school. In 2015 he started his apprenticeship program in Business Administration, successfully completing level 2 and has gone on to continue his education at level 3 in 2016 with plans to progress with further exams.
In his spare time, Dan likes to keep active at the gym and play football with friends.
